The Hatomune-Dō (Japanese: 鳩胸胴, literally "pigeon breastplate") is a type of breastplate used in Japanese armor (Japanese "Yoroi").
The Hatomune-Dō is made of steel. This style of armor was modeled after the breastplates worn by Europeans. The Japanese copied these, but breastplates of European manufacture were also imported.
Hatomune-Dō became popular during the emergence of the first firearms in Japan. Some examples were made bulletproof due to the threat posed by firearms, but these armor pieces were heavy. The arm and leg armor remained in the Japanese style. The helmets were also partly adapted and resembled the European Cabasset.
