The Chigiriki is a weapon from feudal Japan, consisting of a Jitte (a type of truncheon) topped with a chain, which is in turn attached to a ball or bullet, either metallic or wooden. The Chigiriki was primarily used by the police and ninjas.
The Chigiriki was almost certainly created with the aim to replace the second Sai (a type of dagger) or the second Jitte. These weapons were used in pairs, as a single one was not enough to neutralize an opponent, whereas the Chigiriki, even once the opponent's weapon was blocked between its "claws", allowed to continue the fight, thanks to the mobility of its chain".
